Sphere of Influence!

Happiness is a vast sphere – and therefore, the experience of it is perennial. Since, there is abundance around this theme, I thought I could keep picking this on and off to bring out various aspects that I can possibly reflect in this area.

We continually have circles throughout our life phases that govern us considerably. As babies, our parents are our world and they greatly contribute to our emotive and expressive health. When we become school-going children, our universe changes – our teachers become our influencers and also the reason for our sensitivities. Life at school gives us exposure to varied arenas around learning, sports, arts and creativities – and these, along with the teachers and our classmates impact our experiences and feelings. Then we grow up to become teenagers to college-goers and the cycle changes yet again. We have diverse inspirations from an entirely different set of people – this time around the teachers matter a tad less while, friends fill up the cup almost entirely. These are also times when your folks probably are on the other side of the net.

We then graduate….get our degrees and prepare ourselves for work worlds. Some move on to matrimonial bliss right away and some others engage in family trades or their own ones.

A new realm – New people from assorted walks of life, the changed life patterns, the hierarchical syndromes, peer competition, family affairs, business relationships and a whole lot of facets suddenly rush into our lives.

I have realized that while as children and youngsters we try and emulate and get inspired by people closest to us, the picture transforms radically when we try to find our feet in this world. Now, the drift is no more about just a small group of people who filled your lives – it is a large slice of society that is trying to master you!

It would not be entirely wrong to say that the onus of falling in line with multiple circles that we hold on to as an adult for a shallow glory that many carry, outdoes the innocence that we had as a child who could straightforwardly fragment and choose one aspect over the other. This would not mean that one should not reach out for more – but, aren’t we then in the process, amplifying our exposure to the impracticable!

The society comes with its own attitude, demeanor, beliefs and perceptions, spirit and drive….and each one of us makes an effort to swim along the currents. In a bid to please the flows, we end up letting all the waves affect us….as a result burdening our hearts and minds with unsolicited sadness around every stir that comes with the ripple. We are not able to limit our feelings to the reasonable and even the circle that is farthest away from our centre makes us cringe and cry!

Recognize that ‘who’….Identify the ‘what’ and Ascertain the ‘where’ that challenges and motivates you….Discover your preferred elements around your nucleus….Keep the faraway surfs beyond impressions….Let go of the apparatus that does not work for you…. Seize your power and let the unwanted matters not affect you – so that you are able to craft and re-craft your happiness from your innermost circle.

Shape ‘your’ Sphere of Influence – draw, replenish and echo your verve from this realm!

  1. Superb. Very True.

‘Perception’, ‘beliefs’ / what others will say? think?, affects us more whereas facts can be different or we may not be in their mind at all. You have presented this very well in limited words. As we grow, ‘circle’ also grow, it’s natural, but plan enhancement, ‘circle of influence’ but without affecting your ‘inner most circle’/ ‘core circle’. Truly said.👍
