Serenity…

The character of water is so uncanny…

As a lake, it stands still – calm and deep
When a river it flows – sometimes low and sometimes steep…
In the first it allows muck to settle – while, as a river it ruffles and deports metal…

Then as roaring sea waves, it overturns and guzzles all – with every tide, it grapples and retreats withal…

It lugs mud, filth and smear – yet, inherently remains pure and clear!

Lifeline to the world but, a peril of deluge – it drowns someone alive and to the lifeless is a refuge!

It carries imprints – pleasant and sinful…
even so, lives on unchanged in grace and is brimful!

It flows as the stream…it assumes any shape and form…
At times rain, at times snow and at times just plain lukewarm!

And with all its virtue it stays unassuming…
Enduring all strains and lunging and travelling…

It gives itself wholly and still is a constant…
In its perpetual existence it continues to stay important!
